How it all began:

A germ of an idea
|
 I graduated from Manchester University in the summer of 1997. That July, I
set off with a posse of friends on a road trip around France, Spain and
Portugal. The journey took us to Barcelona, where I found myself sitting in
the shadow of Gaudi's fairy-tale cathedral: La Segrada Familia. Rising high
above the streets of Barcelona, this half completed cathedral is truly an
impressive sight and inspired me to challenge myself in some way. A charity
bike ride around the world, maybe?
It was only a germ of an idea, but it
stayed with me throughout the holiday...and grew.
